Micro lessons

What is a micro lesson?

A micro lesson is comparable with a 90’real teaching context lesson, it helps you to enhance your time and group management and to identify what needs to be done to improve your teaching methods.
The teacher and classmates can help you to identify which aspects of your teaching needs special concern through their constructive feedback, which is for our own benefit!

Micro lessons are composed by three stages:

Presentation stage:
Introduction of chosen topic,
i.e. new vocabulary.

Practice section:
Aplication of exercises,
i.e. create sentences using the new words.

Production stage:
Encourage students to participate and to response to the new vocabulary,
i.e. produce a dialog and present it in front of the class (pair or work group).

Even if you consider that every stage has different characteristics you should not forget:

-to choose a relevant topic.
-clear use of visual aids and IT’s.
-avoidance of boredom.
-to create an appropriate lesson plan.
- recognizable and visible stages.
-encourage an “intellectual and linguistic challenge”

Good luck!

First Class.

And the first class arrived...

Some were still thinking on their summer and vacations, I was thinking on the summer I didn’t have and on the vacations I would like to have.
Although, I started paying attention and I realized about the whole work I should do this year.
As the teacher said, it doesn’t depend on him, it doesn’t depend on the class he gives, it totally depends on me, how much effort I put to improve my self primarily as an individual and secondly as a future teacher. I totally agree that is my responsibility.
Being aware of my strengths and weaknesses is really important and even more important is to identify them and come across with a new way to face them up.
So, the next time I stand up in front of a class I’ll breath and relax to realize how much I trust in my abilities and knowledge.
